What to a Wear to a Wedding 2023

I DO…believe it is that time of year. To quote Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, “It’s wedding season!” I jumped on Great Day Louisiana to discuss some do’s and don’ts when it comes to Summer 2023.

Rule #1

ABOVE EVERYTHING- know the theme and dress code. I don’t care how good you look in a sun dress, if the wedding calls for Black Tie you are going to stand out like a sore thumb. Know the rules, and then explore your options within them.

Don’t wear white to a wedding…

Do not, under any circumstances, wear white (I think this should be obvious by now, but this serves as a reminder that wearing white to a wedding is a very bad idea). Black, it’s a wedding not a funeral. Red, especially fire engine red, don’t be the corvette of the wedding.

Destination Weddings

Heading to a destination wedding or something more casual? Have fun with it! This is your chance to invest in something casual but nice. You will stand out at the wedding and also have a piece in your wardrobe that you can use for a night on the town (win-win). I am a fan of the corals and softer tones this summer.

Chartreuse!

Chartreuse is the new neutral. It has been popular for a few years and is now settling in as a tone you can wear without shocking the eyes. Pair it with your standard neutrals while also adding some pop.

Fanny pack?

You can wear a fanny pack if it is a casual wedding, and it’s not just limited to Disney World anymore. Your wardrobe should be stunning and more upscale, with the fanny pack being the exception. Side note: it can be great for storing snacks.

KEEP YOUR SHOES ON

DO NOT, under any circumstances take your shoes off. Nobody cares that you danced so hard you had to take your shoes off. This is a celebration of matrimony not a weird hole on the internet. If you truly must, bring a comfortable packable pair of shoes you can change into after the dinner.
